Jay Leno's final shows as host of the Tonight Show is tonight, with guests Billy Crystal and Garth Brooks. I'm a fan of Jay's and have tremendous respect for all he's accomplished. They always say to go out when you're on top, and Jay leaves the Tonight Show #1 in the ratings!
I was on the show once, sort of! I was in the audience for a Tonight Show taping about two years ago. Dana Carvey was a guest that night, and he was hilarious.
I got there early, and made it into row 3, so I was one of the people who got to run up and "high-five" Jay as the show opens. Actually it was a "high-two" as his pinkey and ring fingers brushed mine." When people come over, I make them watch this episode, then freeze the tv and I point out "There I am! There's the back of my head!!!" It is my only claim to fame.
I also got a Tonight Show tee-shirt from the warm-up comedian, but it is way, way too big, and I frequently wear it to bed.
Anyway, thanks for all the fun, Jay! Great job out there, and we know we'll see you again soon!
I've worked in radio for 27 years, and this is definitely the coolest, best job ever! Afternoons at KOST in LA is a dream come true for me!
My wife Lisa and I have a 14 year old boy named Jackson and an 11 year old girl named Lauren. Jackson's a sweet, smart kid who loves computers and playing his cello. Lauren may seem shy, but ask her about animals, especially West Highland White Terriers, and she'll talk your fluffy little ears off! She's started ice skating lessons and is doing great!
Friday night is our family "Star Trek and pizza night," and we like to go for hikes and bike rides.
