Hey, it's a free country, so who am I to judge people who do stuff like stand on the wing of a flying airplane, or tightrope walk over a canyon? It that's how you get your kicks, or that's what it takes to make you famous or rich, then that's your choice! I choose to drive a car knowing Justin Bieber is somewhere out on the roads, so I'm probaby no safer!
As a radio personality, I've had a few opportunities to do risky stunt stuff, but I've been turning them down for the past 14 years for one reason: I'm a parent. I figure my biggest responsibility in life to just plain be there for my kids, and that means not putting myself in a dangerous situation if I don't have to.
However: when the kids are both old enough to take care of themselves, like 45, then watch out! That might be me up there on that plane wing, with Justin Bieber and some angry tigers.
I've worked in radio for 27 years, and this is definitely the coolest, best job ever! Afternoons at KOST in LA is a dream come true for me!
My wife Lisa and I have a 14 year old boy named Jackson and an 11 year old girl named Lauren. Jackson's a sweet, smart kid who loves computers and playing his cello. Lauren may seem shy, but ask her about animals, especially West Highland White Terriers, and she'll talk your fluffy little ears off! She's started ice skating lessons and is doing great!
Friday night is our family "Star Trek and pizza night," and we like to go for hikes and bike rides.
