So, tonight is the Golden Globes. Will you be watching? Here's a question that I ask every time I watch one of these shows. How do you feel about yourself when you watch these award shows? Better or worse?
I've been an awards show junkie for decades. I almost always watch the Oscars and the Golden Globes, if not all the award shows. And, I've always found it to be entertaining and a little bit motivating. Watching "everyday people" who rise to the level of excellence is motivating. At least, I feel that way. Others have a different take.
One of my friends is always sad when she watches an awards show. She says, it makes her feel small - like she should be achieving more in her own life (like she's falling short of the mark). Honestly, I never looked at it that way. Do you?
I've always taken the road of "If they can do it, I can do it!" That doesn't mean that I'm correct and my friend is all wrong. Remember, all of us have life experiences and view them much differently from our neighbors, relatives and friends.
So, once again, I'm the curious guy who asks all the questions. How do you feel watching these shows? At the very least, are you pumped up and excited when your choice wins an award? It's all about feeling good. If you're a movie lover, it's your Super Bowl or World Series. So, enjoy it. I know that I certainly will.
