No silly. Not THOSE Black Eyed Peas on New Years! I do love tradition, & I've know the Peas (pre-Fergie) when they were with Black Coffee Entertainment making mix-tapes I got at a random Hollywood party. But, today I'm not partying in The Hills to ring in the New Year- I'm on the couch in my PJ's at 9pm because Grandma is in my bed with my daughter for a "sleepover". My boy, is lightly resting in his crib. My "crib" has been taken over by family this NYE, & I have to say.. It rocks.
Today there is a tradition happening in the kitchen- Not far from the couch. My favorite way to cook up good luck, is in the crock pot. That's why I love this recipe for Black Eyed Peas best. After you've made your peas, you can add them to a salad, a stew, or however you choose to enjoy them. The food you eat today & how you eat it, is said to bring special luck for you in the coming year.
Tradition! For a couple of Los Angelenos like me & my hubby, it's all about watching the Rose Parade in Pasadena & eating black eyed peas. Hey it's a good day to start a tradition in your family! Whether it's peas, pork, cabbage or kale.. We wish you all the luck in 2013! & Buen Provecho!
