Hey Mama,
We spoke last week about the organic brown rice syrup in baby food items having high levels of arscenic. Now there's a recall on baby medicine. As a mom, I know what you are going through, trying to make all the most informed decisions for your babies. It's just not always that simple.
Last night, at our busy neighborhood Granola-Grocery store, Fireman Matt & I made ourselves dizzy circling the baby food isle... Strugglign to focus, I read labels while our infant, strapped to my chest, swiped at the glass jars. Daddy pushed our toddler trough the narrow paths of the fruits & veggies section, talking to himself: "Local or regular organic. What?"
We huddled the family next to the incense & soaps, Googling the arscnic article on Matt's smart-phone again. Eventually we ditched the mission to purchase our infants first carrots :(
Its unclear why there was poison in the soil that grew the orgnic food in the findings last week. The info we found was just as fuzzy as our sleep-deprived brains. But after hundreds of proud-mom purchases, beeming with my recycled grocery bags & fresh local choices, I found comfort at my giant chain store, buying good-ol' regular baby food with that familliar happy baby on it.
I still like to support local growers, smaller shops, & the effort to provide more quality products to people. I'm just doing hat I tell my daughter to do on the playground.. Share. Please send me your stories too. We're in this thing together ;)
