I've never known of an organization that adresses tough political, social and race issues, by using somethign as beautiful as DANCE. It reminds me of the movements for arts programs back when I was a kid, but as the daughter of a public school teacher, I also remember the energy behind that force fading away. Ana Maria Alvarez founded CONTRA TIEMPO to keep it alive. It's like an idea in motion, stays in motion.

Ana Maria shares her real life inspirational story of finding comfort and self-empowerment through dancing. Thanks to her vision and unwavering dedication, the idea that arts are an important, integral, componant to raising our youth will not be forgotten. In this fascinating interview, I got to hear her personal journey and become educated in the true diffrence programs like hers have made iwth kids across america.

CONTRA TIEMPO is an activist dance company. They are a repratory that educates & entertains. They have perfromances & classes open to the community.
