How do you feel when you're constantly compared to someone famous? It's always a bit of a surprise for me. When I look in the mirror every morning, I only see me. However, those who catch a glimpse of me often have a different opinion. I'm sure, at some point, you've been compared to a movie star, TV star or politician. My apologies if you've suffered through the latter. Nevertheless, I have another great story to share.
Earlier today, I grabbed a last-minute sandwich at a nearby shop. Now, granted, we're just a stone's throw from Hollywood. So, maybe that caused the confusion. Anyway, here's a brief overview of the conversation. It went something like this.
Waitress: Excuse me for staring at you, but you remind me so much of Alec Baldwin. You know, the actor?
Me: (a smile and a chuckle)
Waitress: Of course, I mean Alec Baldwin since he lost all of that weight - the thinner Alec Baldwin. You're about the same age I would guess.
Me: (another smile and a chuckle)
Waitress: You're not Alex Baldwin are you? But, I'll bet you get that a lot from people. You could actually be his double. Has anyone ever told you that before - that you look like Alec Baldwin?
Me: Well, no. Not really. Although, I used have people say that I looked a lot like Pierce Brosnan (Remington Steele, the James Bond movies, Mrs. Doubtfire and other shows) or maybe Nathan Fillion (the star of ABC's TV show Castle).
-- Obvious at this point, the waitress is much too young to know either Brosnan or even Fillion, but she knows Alec Baldwin!
Waitress: Are you as funny as Alec Baldwin?
Me: Actually, I'm a whole lot funnier!
(This was followed with a roar of laughter from the other cashiers, people in line and a big group of people eating behind me).
My Final Thought: Gosh. Maybe I am a lot funnier!
Have you ever been compared to a TV or movie star? Who?
